VE Math Curriculum (Ages 6–12)
Our Elementary & Middle School Math Curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics while fostering problem-solving skills and a positive attitude toward learning.
The program is structured into three progressive levels: **Beginner (7–8)**, **Intermediate (9–10)**, and **Advanced (11–12)**.
Level 1: Beginner (Ages 6–8)
Focus: Building number sense and arithmetic foundations.
Number Sense & Place Value: Understand numbers up to 1,000, odd/even, patterns, and rounding.
Addition & Subtraction: Master single/multi-digit operations with regrouping.
Intro to Multiplication & Division: Learn concepts with arrays and visual models, start memorizing multiplication facts.
Fractions: Understand fractions as parts of a whole (½, ⅓, ¼).
Measurement & Data: Measure length, weight, and volume; create bar graphs and pictographs.
Geometry: Recognize 2D & 3D shapes, explore perimeter and area.
Level 2: Intermediate (Ages 8–10)
Focus: Expanding operations and introducing algebraic thinking.
Multi-Digit Multiplication & Long Division: Solve operations and word problems.
Fractions, Decimals & Percents: Add/subtract fractions, convert between forms, understand percents.
Algebraic Thinking: Work with variables and simple one-step equations.
Measurement & Geometry: Area & perimeter of complex shapes, volume of prisms, angles, and triangles.
Data Analysis: Interpret line plots/graphs, calculate mean, median, and mode.
Financial Literacy: Learn money management, sales tax, discounts, and simple interest.
Level 3: Advanced (Ages 10–12)
Focus: Preparing for pre-algebra and advanced problem-solving.
Pre-Algebra: Work with integers, exponents, PEMDAS, ratios, and proportions.
Equations & Inequalities: Solve two-step equations, graph inequalities.
Geometry & Measurement: Explore the coordinate plane, circles (area, circumference), and volume of cylinders.
Probability & Statistics: Understand probability, analyze data with box-and-whisker plots.
Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Apply multi-step reasoning to complex word problems.
Program Highlights
* Step-by-step progression from basic arithmetic to pre-algebra.
* Real-life applications in measurement, data, and financial literacy.
* Focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence-building.
About the Teacher
Alexey – Mathematics Instructor (PhD)
Alexey holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, and Statistics from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), where his research focused on advanced mathematical modeling and statistical analysis.
With over eight years of professional and research experience in mathematics, data science, and artificial intelligence, Alexey has worked at leading universities and research institutes in Japan, including Kyushu University and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology. His projects ranged from developing simulation prototypes for molecular dynamics to designing algorithms that achieved 90% accuracy in medical predictions.
Alexey’s strong academic foundation and research expertise allow him to bring a unique perspective into teaching mathematics. He not only helps students master arithmetic, geometry, algebra, and statistics, but also inspires them to see how mathematical thinking connects to real-world applications such as technology, economics, and science. His teaching emphasizes clarity, logical reasoning, and curiosity-driven learning, making math both rigorous and engaging.
